No doubt, the boy's mom supports diversity.

The Daphne costume is very flamboyant. Once the boy hesitated on wearing the costume, idk, this is where i kinda wonder what was the moms intention?

At that point it wasnt really a gay support issue, but a teasing concern. Its the teasing and bullying he might face that makes me feel queasy.

I hear you, JIMM, but I wonder if the little kids didn't even notice. . . just that he had a nice outfit., . ;-)

I had my first crush at age 4. . I remember it well. . .his name was Peter, also. . . I remember the birthday party and his present. . ;-)
You know, I think I thought everyone felt 'that way'. . . didn't they? LOL

I knew he was 'special'. . .

Yes, it was a good news story, I liked it.
But then I read the comments below it and had my warm feeling well and truly doused with cold water.

What crap some people are.....sorry a correction....what crap too many people are.

Yes, reading comments elsewhere. . .emphasis e l s e w h e r e . . .is too often a bummer. I am amazed at the anger they often house. . .and ignorance. . .especially a lot who call themselves christians. . . I am seeing I do not like "the pious" much at all!

I do well not to read comments in newpapers. . .but every now and then I succumb and go look. . .when I need a shot + of adrenalin. hahahaha

I like the comments of the guys. . .and occasionally a gal. . .here! You are all among my fav peeps! ;-)

I thought the mother articulated the defense of her son very well. But, like Jimm, I'm not sure it was such a good idea to allow the boy to dress as a girl. He was apparently a witness to the criticism and abuse from other mothers, which may be something that stays with him the rest of his life as an emotional scar.

According to the mother's account of the incident, she was outgunned 3 to 1 by mothers who didn't approve of her son's costume. That's the reality. Minorities will always be outgunned.

It's a mother's duty to defend her child, sure. But it's also a mother's duty to keep her child from potential harm in the first place.
