STORY HIGHLIGHTS
- An appeals court temporarily reinstates "don't ask, don't tell"
- The military won't be allowed to investigate, penalize or discharge anyone under the policy
- Officials support the repeal of policy, but object to having courts set timing
The 9th U.S. Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in California issued the order late Friday after the Obama administration asked it to reconsider its recent order temporarily blocking the policy.
U.S. officials have been moving ahead with
dismantling "don't' ask, don't tell" but had objected to having the

QUESTION: Does it appear that more frequently, of late, Mr Obama is "back tracking" on his promises, pledges?
It wasn't too long ago that the Gay Media was touting the largely attended dinner with the President by prominent and large bank-account
members of the so-called "Gay Community" at which time Mr Obama reportedly promised them everything, short of the Pope leading the NYCityGay Parade in June.
What is/has happened? "Read my lips: No more lies". . . . ooopsss that was from a darker era . . .wasn't it GWBush?

To quote another President, "There you go again". :) It's not nice to practice law without a license, Justin. :)
The DOJ and the WH have gone to great efforts to keep the Joint Chiefs in line as an orderly approach to phasing out DADT progressed. The military have already developed training and begun the implementation of it. This is to lead to an orderly elimination of DADT by the end of the year.
Getting the courts involved in the timeline for this process, especially the 9th Circuit, the most liberal circuit, will only give some in Congress ammunition to berate this entire process. Some things take time.
On another front, the DOJ has already announced that it will not enforce section III of the Defense of Marriage Act on grounds that this portion of the statute is unconstitutional. The department has already taken this position formally in court.
Hang in there.
Obama's numero uno priority is to be re-elected for a second term. If he gets the flick next time around, he's finished. Therefore, anything that might diminish his chances of re-election will take a back seat.
I see . . . .and I didn't realize I was practicing anything. ;-) It's too damned hot.
The heat is good for you Justin.
As for the President, there has never been a president that could DO anything. As the leader of the free world, his job is to convince congress and all the other goofy elected puppets to get the jobs done that the people who are paying them want done. If they kick and scream and he sends them to their rooms, he will only look like the bad parent, I mean President. He really has to use child psychology on them. And probably a little on us too.
Now, enjoy that summer heat. Because winter will be here soon.
I hafta agree with Gary. Obama was deeply saddled by the previous admins financial mess. That's where his main focus has been.
When the Repugs run low on re-election ammo, they always play the 'gay' card.
But for now, Obama will prolly rally the middle-class, what's left of it, against fearsome Repug led, social program cuts.
And yes, too dang hot, 95F! Lakeside is cooler, tho! Been a long dry spell. Hasnt rained here since June.
Yes, Sir. Thank you, Sir. I will, Sir. ;-))
Yeah,, yeah. . .I've heard. . .I make a lot of things hard. . . but that's life. . . .alternative: live with eyes and ears closed. . . next step = death.
Whether you are aware of what's going on or not, it will still affect you in some way, shape or manner.
I'd prefer to know. . . "forwarned is forearmed". . . or sumpin'. . .
I trust that everyone noticed that Secretary Panetta certified that the repeal of DADT will not hurt military moraale and efficiency today. Two more months and you can tell the First Sergeant that you suck male anatomy!
That may well be true, but for the nonce, Richard, I think "Prudence is the better part of valor. . ." lol. . and I don't think any gay military ought even think about setting up business, as it were. . . .LOL
Just sorta thinking out loud, as it were. . . ;-)
