Cha cha cha. . boom diddley boom boom. . . . .

G'day JustinO,

Brazil's Supreme Court has voted overwhelmingly in favour of allowing same-sex couples the same legal rights as married heterosexuals.

The decision was approved by 10-0 with one abstention.

It's interesting that Brazil is the world's most populous Roman Catholic nation.

In the US, the majority of RCs support equality and same sex marriage.

I have only 10 fingers. . . not enough to count all the Catholics I know personally
in favor of gay marriage. . a lot of these are older het couples like my parents. for example.

And none of us feels any less Catholic! Why would we? LOL

Justin, I have the utmost respect for RCs at the grass roots level like yourself and your friends and family. It doesn't surprise me at all that you know loads of folk who are in favour of equality for all humanity. It is, after all, what Jesus taught.

The problem is that the RC hierarchy seems to be hell bent (and I choose the phrase advisedly) on strengthening their bigotry and prejudice against the gay community. I don't know enough about how the RC church works but do the normal, reasonable people such as yourself have any input to change things further up the tree?

ALASTAIR. . . .a quick reply. . .do we have any say/imput/access. .?
NONE WHATSOEVER.

I will return to this issue you rightfully raise later in the day when I have the time/leisure to reply to you as you deserve. . .

Yours is a question, an issue "bubbling on the back burner" in recent years, I am learning. Much is being said of late, prompted by an occurrence in Australis in the forced resignation of a much loved bishop. . . .sounds like the Borgias of "ill repute" are cavorting again in the Vatican hallways and secret passages. LOL

I want to try a decent reply to this.
ciao ciao

I bought a campervan recently with the intention of traveling around Oz next year. So I guess that will make a Roamin' Catholic.
