I disagree. While there has to be an initial chemistry for romantic love to spawn, it is sustained and enriched by long companionship.
I'll still take my chances
Before any of that, one must love themselves and be open to the differences found in others.
I agree with J. I have received the offspring of affinity created in a moment, but which alas, also lasted not much longer. So too have I received the offspring of long companionship.
I am not worthy to comment on Gibran....but I will! I think what he is saying (and I am saying this to myself as I write) is that a long relationship doesn't 'true love' make. But I believe that there can be 'times' (instances, seconds) that will flash in your face the realization of what love is. Now I guess the key is to sustain and not prevent these 'times' from happening and allowing them to knock you out occasionally! lol
