Grand  Old  Pricks

Isn't it funny that the House Republican caucus can fairly nonchalantly impose a 2% tax increase on working Americans but talk about a 3.8% increase on the highest income earners and you're simply unAmerican, a socialist, nazi, communist (what other terms do they throw out there?) Is hypocrisy... More

The House Republicans like to combine unrelated issues together like the oil pipeline being combined with the payroll tax. This is underhanded and crooked. That is why the GOP is failing the American public. People are starting to see through their Games.

There's nothing "fair" about the same tax rate for all brackets. Working people pay a far bigger percentage of their gross income in taxes than the top couple percent do. When property taxes, sales taxes, federal income taxes, state income taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes, etc. are all factored in, the total percentage of taxes paid by a regular working stiff is probably double (or more) the percentage paid by the plutocrats.

Ex: Joe Blow makes $40,000/year. He probably pays $15,000 to $20,000 of that in taxes of various kinds (roughly 40-50% of his gross income). Joe Billionaire makes $40,000,000 per year. If he has the worst tax lawyers and accountants in the U.S., he might pay $6,000,000 to $10,000,000 per year (15-25% of his gross income).

And oh by the way, Joe Blow's after-tax income is at best $25,000.00. Joe Billionaire's after-tax income is at worst $30,000,000.00. This is considered an equitable system?

I'm not partisan, i just despise everything that Republicans stand for: government of, by and for the plutocrats.
