A Walk Down Commerical St. Provincetown

Hello ALL Y'ALL
Figure it's high time for me to 'get in gear' and tell you about my life and some of the goings-on.  One of the things that has amazed me is the dramatic increase lately in the numbers of viewers at Justin Dunes.  670 yesterday and at 9:15 this morning already 349!  Interesting.  And yet, there was not even 1 posting to the blog yesterday. . . not even one.  Guess many are like me these days: so much going on and not much to comment upon.

In my case I have been doing a lot of nothing. . .just hangin' out.  The end of the school year with completing my own work for the Masters in Psych, graduation, etc. . ..but leading up to that just finishing up with the three classes I have taught this year, time with the students and more time with their final exams and tallying all the grades fairly and mercifully . .LOL. . .then the seeminly endless 'paper trails', gratefully most can be done on spread sheets via the computer. . .but even that takes time.

Then finalizing all of the plans for beginning my doctoral work this coming September, plus finalizing the offer from the University for the coming year[s]. . . so besides my own classes I will continue to teach one Intro Psych class for the three terms 2011-2012 and then most exciting, working in/with the research/hands-on clinical work in  case work, counseling, crisis intervention, etc,  Both the teaching and the clinical work will fit requirements for the doctoral program.

So besides the stipend my work will also be for credit in the doctorate program.  Plus the fact that the Psych Dept and the University awarded  a substantial grant of funds for tuitions fees as
recognition for "outstanding academic achievement and service to the university community".  I am very proud of this and very grateful for the great opportunities I have been given.  When I reflect on it I realized how blessed I have been and am. . .and so I am tremendously grateful for everything.

I think I have mentioned this earlier. . ..who can remember?. . lol. .
Peter will resume studies in August being now in his junior year after a working hiatus for a couple years. . . .and. . ..daaaduuuuuh. .
at the same university  in a Medical-Surgical Associate program, akin to the Nurse Practitioner, but in the field of leaning techniques and skills in working with/on the surgical team, licensed to do certain procedures, etc.  An excellent program more young people ought to look into.

Plus, my grandmother, Mme Bouvier of earlier fame, has graciously, again, opened her home to both of us.   What more could we ask for?!

So we;ve been doing a lot of planning and practical work for the Fall, just hanging out together, doing the beach between storms and rain. . . hehe. . secretly, being lazy. . .officially I am not working this summer. . . hower, there are always the go-fer and honey-do lists from Mom and Dad. .. mostly Mom, , , hehe.

Now that the "writer's cramp" has gone I have so many things I what to share with you all. . .and, as I just get going, I have to stop. There is a "Honey-DO". . .I have to do and get done for Mom.

Let me leave you for now with this video walk down Commercial St. from last summer.  [No, I am not the tour guide. . .hehe ]  Here's the link. . .hope you enjoy. . .your own virtual tour.

It must be nice to have your life pretty much mapped out at your age, JustinO. Mine looks like a child's scribble.

Anyway, good luck to you, and I think you deserve everything you have because you work hard and take nothing for granted... not even your mother's Honey-Dos.

I checked out the tour of Provincetown and didn't see many skinny people hehe. Too many restaurants. But it looks like a nice place to visit... and even better to live.

Interesting vid, since i walked that walk one week later!

Just wondering, if you werent gay, would you be in the same career/life situations/opportunities you now find yourself?

How much has being different influenced your life?

Where does your courage come from, originate?

JIMM. . .hey bro. . .thanks for your posting. Great questions. I will be happy to answer them. . .but first I want to think about these. . .I've never replied to these before. Thanks for the "brain fodder". . .lol

THANKS, Gary. I really appreciate your comments. . .you are a kind man. . ;-)
The opportunities are there. . yes, like gifts. . I took the opportunities, did my best, and "the dialogue" began. . . ;-) and one thing led to another. . .Now what I do with all this is my gift to others.
Who, how and what I become with all this will be service from which I too will gain immensely.

I look forward to The Trop. . and will do it one day at a time. What fun! ;-)

hahahaaa. . .Gary didn't see many skinny people in the vid. . .true, I guess. . .

I am sure you are quite aware that a significant number of gay guys like and are attracted to "The Chubbs". . and there are a good number of young guys too.

I am sure you could tell us a LOT about that, Gary. . .hehehehee

Oh Justy, feeling lonely were we? ....lol...... sorry fella. Been real busy here tho, it was the Queens(!) Birthday long weekend here in OZ and friends dropping in all the time....with me trying to do some work in between. But I did find the time to check in here several times and see the "action", but as you say, not much. As Rob says, you've earned the right to a bit of R&R and I assumed that was what you were doing, relaxing, and I hoped, spending time and catching up with Peter.
But, there is only so much relaxing that one can do....the urge to be busy can be hard to shake off for long.
That vid was interesting, P-Town is much as I imagined, very much like a seaside holiday town not all that far from my city, except not so many gay people, it's more of a retiree's town apart from the tourerists...."God's Waiting Room" as one local radio announcer irreverently refers to the place, with a laugh...haha!
But yes, it is much like P-Town with it's t-shirt shops, icecream shops, restaurants, eateries ... but no fudge shops....we don't seem to have caught that US fad, well, not here anyways.

I'd love to come and check your place out...but that'll never happen, too many other things on the list above it. I like open spaces, nature, mountains, deserts much more than place where people are and that list is far longer than cities and towns that make the list.

Enjoy your time off Justin, don't stress about us out here in blog land, we can look after oursleves I'm sure.

Thanks GREG. . .always good to hear from you in Adelaide. Secretly, I am fascinated by the name. . .Adelaide. In my mind it sounds rather exotic. . a far away place, sort of like in faerie tales, full of mystery and intrigue. ho ho ho. . . For me, certainly, the name is not 'ho-hum'. . maybe cuz there are creatures like you who live there.

I am with you. . Provincetown, as much as I love it, is not at the top of the list of places I would visit. . .it has its own ambiance. . sort of like one of the safe places where gays can be ourselves and live normally. That's what most I know look for here.

Summer of freshman year high school I traveled with my Dad to Zambia and Nigeria: two totally fascinating coutries, so different from my home-sea-school experience. Places I'd love to explore but not safe for a young white teen in a black country. . or anywhere else for that matter.

Anyway, with the large numbers of "mysterious gay people" passing thru these pages every day. ..500-600 of them!. . I just wish a few of you fascinating people would stop a moment and say HI.. . HEY..
. ;-)
So I was just being social and inviting ALL Y'ALL to stop on The Dunes. ;-)

Always glad you do, Greg.

That video is pretty much as I remember it. But it's not raining. It rained the entire week that I was there. At $300 a night, you'd think you could get better weather. Oh Well.

Enjoy your summer off and don't think of those Honey do's as something that you have to do. Think of them as something that you "get" to do. The best experiences come when you least expect them.

JustinO'Shea said...

Nothing much changes. . .lol...except the weather. . .WoW. . $300 a night!
Where did you stay? ;-)

Sweet. . about the honey-do's. . ;-)
thanx

City of Adelaide, South Australia.
Home to gay me.
Appropriately, my city was named in honour of the German-born consort of King William IV.

She moved to England as a young princess from a happy court of a small German state, where her father ruled very much like a good king in a fairy tale.

It seems her life was not all beer and skittles however.

But our old town is happy enough....it was officially proclaimed as a new British colony in 1836 and unlike the other states, was established as the centre of a planned colony of free immigrants, promising civil liberties and freedom from religious persecution. We were not a penal settlement like the other early British centres established on this vast new land.

There, history lesson is over Justin, but I am kinda proud of living in a free city named after a Queen...ha!

JustinO'Shea said...

History appreciated.

Thank you, Your Majesty. . .LOL

sorry, couldn't resist. . just in jest.

Gary Kelly said...

Well, there ya go, Greg lives in a city named after a queen and I live in a town named after a local fruit hehe.

Taree is the Aboriginal name for the local fig tree.

And I'm glad Greg cleared up the meaning of penal colony. I thought penal meant something else.
