Ludwig lives on! What a wonderful way to start the day! Thanks for posting, JustinO. What a crowd-stopper that was!

Well, you just made my day,Justin. These flash gatherings remind us that civilization endures in a world where barbarism is always with us. Schiller's vision of a world in which "alle menschen verden bruder" still seems far fetched, but when Beethoven put it to music so glorious, music he was too deaf to hear at the time, you believe that all truly will be well. Thank you so much for this.

You are most welcome, J. At the end of the segment, there was a block with several others to click on. Did you catch that?
After our family birthday dinner I got to choose a film to watch. . and I chose BILLY ELLIOT. . .surprisingly a number had not seen it. . . I love the ending excitement to Billy's debut in SWAN LAKE with every one there. . I dont tire of the emotion portrayed.. . .WE all agreed that celebrating my birthday "en famille" was much nicer than our usual big 4th of July cocktail party and BBQ for everybody and the neighbors! I couldn't agree more! And the pre-teen nephews really got into BILLY ELLIOT. . . .classy dude. ;-)

Sorry. Didn't see it in your post. Am I missing something?

I like what J said about Beethoven's deafness and how, despite it, he persisted with his mission to bring joy to the world. It made me think about those individuals who dedicate their lives with a passion to the betterment of human kind. They are the true immortals, the true saints, who deserve our eternal gratitude.

Here's something I was unaware of until a mate of mine told me:

As rehearsals began for the premiere performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the most renowned European soprano looked at the score, pronounced it unsingable, threw it on the floor and stormed out. But it did indeed get sung...and still does.

Justin, I looked up the real Billy Elliot. His name is Jack Widdowson
and he is 20. Nov. 5 2011 He was attacked in England, and was
thought to have been crippled from
the neck down. Later got meningitis and father is a Doctor,
whom gave him pennicilin. He is almost back to normal, and wants to
dance again. He has 2 brothers (one plays rugby) and a sister. He is a member of Bern: Ballet Co.
in Switzerland. He is learning to
do everything over again.
