Justin's Musing from The Dunes. . .

Good morning Friends and Neighbors and Assorted Nice People. . . :-))

Just a couple of wandering thoughts I grabbed onto before they were too far out of reach. . . First of all I am most impressed with what the weather personnel seem to see in the present moment. . . ..fantabulous.  Now I am waiting to see their forecasts and promises to find US!

Observation. . . now that I have resumed summer work. . . yepper. . .I am working "on construction" .  I am a dry-wall hangar by avocation.  Wonderful change from what I do the rest of the school year.  ;-))  As I try to think of things to post on The DUNES which might be of some interest to you. . . and I am often surprised by what attracts and promotes comment, ideas, sharings. . . .and, sorry to say, the seeming lack of stimulus in sharing, getting involved.  I am trying to assist us in learning, growth, wonderment, etc. . .in the real existential circumstances in which we live. . . I find it difficult to respond to and engage when nothering is shared, offered.  For example, out of the 107 visits to The Dunes yesterday. . not one person found anything to add, say, object to, share, introduce new topics, ideas. . etc.
Please, tell me. . . if you really think THE DUNES is a waste of time and energy, etc. . why not just tell me. . .outright. . . ?  That way I will better know how to react to my wonderings, ideas. . . OR. . .has this gone on just too long?  LOL
Please, tell me. . I try not to assume, or presume. . . nor really looking for something to do with my time "to get me thru the nght. . "  ho ho ho

ciao ciao, everyone. . . .Good Things all over you!

I guess i'll go first. Speaking only for myself, i hope you continue this blog. My guess is that a fairly small percentage of readers respond to any blog. Again speaking just for myself, there are times i feel as though i have something to say or add. But most times i don't... i only comment about half the time when i have absolutely nothing to say!

I hung drywall back when I was 30 something. I built upstairs apts. Had no stairs down the front apt, a carpenter said with all the work you have done, you can do it yourself, which I did, then on back apt I carried an 800 lb. radiator up the backstairs, alone with no one around (I know now it was very stupid it was to do by myself) I was going to build my own home, which sorry to say I never had the time. Justin, it is not an easy way
to make a living. Guess that you
must enjoy that kind of work, not
having to worry bout everyone's probs. Know you must be content with hanging drywall, the ceiling
are really more of a challenge.
I know your in for a better summer
than last year. With the love
of life, gays can do anything and
love it.

My ego got the best of me from my
last comments. I think your blog is very up lifting and my only source of conversation. The picture of you looks like you are
enjoying the beautiful weather.
Young as you are you look great.
Thanks for that Picture, I think
we needed it.

I belong to the Grey Nomads blog with about 10,000 members just a few of whom are regular contributors. Yet, the "viewers" of any post are in the hundreds. It's the way it is... some people just can't express themselves confidently in words. I can say in the time I've been a member of The Dunes, there have been many articles that have made me ponder something I might otherwise not, or that have crystalized my opinion.

Ya know, it takes millions of human beans to produce one Einstein, but we all benefit.

Another thing I've learned is that most people wait until you're in a box before they say anything nice about you.

I really enjoy visiting here and participating when i can. I can't always identify with gay issues since i've kinda 'missed the boat'.

But the issues cross many diversity lines familiar to all ppl who are oppressed, be it race, sexual orientation, and so on. In my case it would include disabilities.

When you post, I might try commenting on a small part, rather than the whole.

And as i battle thru my own frustrations, it helps to find an escape like the Dunes or the AO.

I'm with the rest of the guys, and hope you don't drop from our radar screens. To borrow one of Norman Mailer's metaphors, your disappearance would be an amputation.

I have to be honest, I found your blog through one of Shannon Boh's many sites way back when.

I like the content here. I like hearing what the "regulars" share with your posts as well as the banter back and forth.

So even if you post every few days, or once a week, I will be here.

You are prominently placed right next to WWDN in my taskbar and just a click away every day.

Love,

-gil

We'll not focus on what my dogs do in the back yard. I've got to cut the grass today.

Thanks for sharing, J. . .ho ho ho
Hope it's not too humid. . .as we say.

Dear GIL. . .thanks for your sharing. I am pleased you like THE DUNES. . .knowing that makes it worthwhile. ;-))

Thanks to all you guys. . your ideas ans feelings help me sort out my own, broaden my own perspective. It is a dangerous time in a man's life when he thinks he has nothing to learn/gain from others. I am grateful to you for helping me grow
HUGS. .

Hi Justin.
I think that as long as you are getting something worthwhile from blogging and it gives satisfaction to hear from people and their opinions, then blogging serves it purpose.
I comment on things to which I can relate. I like your personal posts best because I get to know you better. I don't usually comment on the 'advice' posts because I cannot relate to them. I am not in the market and have clumsily trod through my relationship, learning as I go. Where were you Justin back in the 70's when I needed you for advice! lol
A lot of people like you and I do hope you continue......which I know you will.

There. . .finally found your post again, Jim. Somewhere in this lst there are st least two other notes to you. . . lol. . .so, take your pick.
Where was I "back in the 70's when I needed you for advice? hahaaha I doubt I was even a twinkle in my Dad's eyes! ho ho ho
From my obsrvations, seems to me you've done quite well. . .Keep doing it. . .
and, , thanks. . . .justin

In all relationships, including those between bloggers and bloggees, a little reassurance is needed once in a while.

I have battled with this same issue and wonder if it is worth my effort.
The answer for me, is that I will continue only if it helps me. I love the connections that I have made and consider each reader a friend if they comment or not. I put a lot of myself into each post. Sometimes, more than a local friend might see.
I've watched as "friends" have become popular in the blog world and even leave their real jobs to blog full time. That life is not for me, by choice.
For now, I will focus on what I deem as important and share when I feel it is important. Many people visit my older pages regularly and I'm happy that I can live on in that way. We are effecting the world in ways that our parents could never have dreamed of. You have a lot of great existing content.
I have to agree with Jim, I like your more personal post or even the personal introductions to a repost. These give you a realness that a lot of the internet is lacking.
