Bishop Thomas Paprocki Exorcizes Gay Marriage Demons Out Of Illinois

Above is a page from yesterday's program at the gay marriage exorcismheld in Illinois by Bishop Thomas Paprocki.
The head of the Springfield Diocese delivered his remarks to a large crowd of worshippers in the cavernous Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception only blocks from the Capitol, where lawmakers approved the same-sex marriage legislation two weeks ago. "I exorcise you, every unclean sprit, every power of darkness, every incursion of the infernal enemy, every diabolical legion, cohort and faction, in the name and power of our Lord Jesus Christ," Paprocki said during the hourlong ceremony 200 miles from the bill-signing celebration in Chicago. The exorcism performed is known as a minor one in the pantheon of the practice, said Paprocki, who noted similar renouncements of the devil in the acts of baptisms and confirmations.

Afterward, the bishop said he did not expect people to see instant results, restating a point he made during the service that Hollywood had sensationalized exorcisms. He maintained his remarks "are not meant to demonize anyone, but are intended to call attention to the diabolical influences of the devil that have penetrated our culture, both in the state and in the church." Yet Paprocki also charged that "politicians responsible for enacting civil same-sex marriage legislation are morally complicit as co-operators in facilitating this grave sin." "We must pray for forgiveness of these sins and deliverance from this evil which has penetrated our state and our church," Paprocki said.
A small group of pro-gay Catholics protested outside the cathedral during the exorcism rite.

I am ashamed of this bishop's un-Gospel actions and attitude.
This man needs to be shunned for bringing much harm to Gay and Lesbian brothers and sisters. . and disgrace to the Church. May God forgive him and lead him to a repentant change of heart.

A 'minor exorcism' by a 'minor mind.'

I am sitting here just wondering what this man is hiding. Nobody in their right mind would be performing such a horrible and despicable act. And not to mention the people that were there to witness and 'support' him!! Their day is coming.
Got me all riled up Justin! Thanks buddy! lol

But Justin, you're such a cunning devil!

hmmm. .. how so?

It's very considerate of this pseudo-religious wacko to go to such lengths to make sure the whole world knows exactly how deranged he is.

He would seek to exorcise your sedulous tongue.
There's something pathetic about this man, in his theatrically medieval costume, parroting the party line. Don't you think his brand of ass kissing is designed to curry favor among the eunuchs over him?

Yep, gp, he must be emotionally starved for attention and recognition to stoop to this level. . . along with the people who reputedly "filled the cathedral"!

This is all so bizarre! ~justin

First off, J, I agree with you. Except his robes are not "medieval". . all bishops, RCC, Anglicans of various stripes, and other trying to look like bishops, all wear vestments like these. They are typical, worn today and so are not strictly speakin "medieval". . . but. .they need updating, at least. LOL
Were I in his shoes, playing exorcist, I'd be afraid of the opposite effect you wonder about. From what I've read of the current Pope Francis this would have a negative reaction from him. . I suspect most other Catholic bishops would not approve of his actions: "it aint just done!" I asked the Domincan Friars who stafe the Catholic Center on campus - men with up-to-date theological degrees and credentials (if not the university would not hire them! as with other faculty members they must meet the standards.)Anyway the priests said this bishop was way out of line, abusing an ancient ritual which is not to be used by any individual. Here in a technical irony. . lol. . an exorcism would take place in the physical locale where "the presense of evil was manifest." This guy chose to do it in his own cathedral church!
"The verified presence of evil" was there???? NON. "Father, forgive him, he doesn't know what he is doing." I think the recorded words of Jesus from the cross apply in this sitz.

"Sedulous", eh?[gales of laughter) ho ho ho
