Those little shits make me sick. They'd last about 2 seconds on an Australian bus.
Hi Hip Hooraay for Aussie Culture!!!
There are a lot of issues here... bullying, respect, compassion, punishment, and atonement. Not to mention the power and dangers of the internet.
Parents from all over are sitting down with their kids and viewing this clip together, followed by a family discussion.
The teenage tormentors are overwhelmed and frightened by the negative public/internet reaction. Got more than they bargained for, eh???
But lets not forget, these snotnoses are only 8th graders. Hopefully they will be asked to fulfill or volunteer for some kind of meaningful community service.
The victim, Karen, has forgiven her tormentors and asked that they not be arrested, nor threatened by the general public.
For the compassion Karen has shown these kids, and the lessons others will learn from this ordeal, it has kinda turned out to be a good thing.
As for the money donated for her 'vacation'... get this Gary... she wants to RV across America, and finally see the country!
Where were all the cams when I was bullied???? j/k j/k...
Tennessee Williams hit the nail on the head when he wrote that deliberate cruelty is the only unforgivable sin. I've never been christian enough not to deal harshly with little bastards like these kids. At a minimum I would have seen them expelled until they crawled on their bellies in apology. God this makes me furious.
Is it "moral" to allow such behavior to go uncorrected; to not educate such mean ignorance? NO!
My dad has quoted often enough that I can mime it out silently. . .LOL : "An apple doesn't fall too far from the tree."
Maybe parents of such young criminals need some "rehab" work too with their children to curb and correct antisocial destructive behaviour?
What do you say, Your Honor? ;-)
Deliberate cruelty isn't necessarily a crime. Unless it involves battery, torture, or any of the other garden variety offenses that are often cruelty's manifestations, there is nothing you can do about it. And yet we all know that there is some behavior that is so mean it ought to invite officially sanctioned punishment. This sort of meanness has to be covered by a competently written student conduct code, but most such codes have set penalties such as suspension or expulsion. When I was in elementary school in DC my best bud was the son of a senator from Texas. The one guy we hated most was a big bully who was about three grades ahead of us and the nephew of the principal. Unfortunately he showed early signs of sexual sociopathy. When he was abruptly taken out of school and sent to a special boarding school, my friend and I wrote in chalk on every sidewalk square within a block of the school that he was being sent to reform school. We were made to take soapy water and wash all the writing off. It was a good punishment. The strange thing is that about 20 years later he was convicted of raping and murdering a Capital Hill secretary.
One of those kids is the son of a cop.
The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree???
Psych110: could be the non-shared environment, peer pressure, whisked away those apples before they hit the ground.
ok, where's my degree?
Ok, Dr Jimm. . .it just went out "in the mail", late drop off. Should be there in two business days.
Congratulations. Oh. . .and be sure to attach the gold seal, to bottom right, near my signature.
ciao ciao. . .
Yes, we all agree that those little s***s should be punished; but please check out this video from one of their peer on the subject. I was amazed at the wisdom which came out of the mouth of this young man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTevbAIXhGE&feature=related
