GOD AND GAYS - A Conversation

Don't you think there is something pathetic about all these gays trying to explain themselves to a bunch of religious zealots in order to gain acceptance in their churches? My mom always taught me never to go where I wasn't invited, or where my presence wasn't welcomed.

Way too many comments of the original posting. i should have eliminated some of them but I confess i didn't want to waste the time with what often enough is drivel. lol
Now, J. I'd say your mother is/was a real savvy lady. . .nonne? ;-) With something of a penchant to being an educator i don't explain much: I am just there [in this case 'church'] because it is my choice and my right so i have no need to explain. But I would like to update their 'education' and assist them to clarify their mis-information and premises. - April 28, 2014 at 6:16 PM

Good point, J. Sex is not private. It should be but it's not. It's such a basic, animalistic, get down and boogie activity that human beings have always had a serious complex about it.
Sex is necessary for procreation. If it weren't, it would be banned completely. Instead, over millennia, governments, religions, societies and peers have introduced rules and regulations in an attempt to dignify what is otherwise not, and confine its practice to 'legitimate' situations.
Swearing/cussing uses words that describe sexual acts, which is why those words are deemed foul, disgusting, coarse, filthy, etc. Is sex really foul, disgusting, coarse or filthy? Apparently it is.
It's not just gays trying to explain themselves to a bunch of religious zealots that's pathetic, it's also the way societies have turned sex into the business of society rather than the private business of its participants.
No wonder I'm such a damn cynic in my dotage hehe. Human beings are nuts. No exceptions. - April 28, 2014 at 8:19 PM

Looks my last comment didn't make it for some reason. Let's try again.
Good point, J. Human beings have suffered a major complex about sex since the apple. Sex is not private. Sex is everybody's business. Over the millennia, sex has been governed by religions, governments, societies and peers If sex hadn't been a necessary component of procreation, it would have been banned altogether. Therefore, the only way the righteous could ever associate sex with decency was to limit its activity to marriage behind closed doors.
Swearing/cussing uses words that describe sexual activity and genitalia, yeah? Therefore those words are deemed by the righteous to be disgusting, foul, sinful, coarse, etc. Is sex disgusting, foul, sinful, etc? Why should the word 'fuck' be offensive and the word 'gosh' not? Go figure.
Sex is by its very nature undignified, which is why porno has such a bad rep. It's okay to watch a heart transplant or other medical procedure, even childbirth, but not genitalia doing its thing.
To dignify sex, artists and movie directors need to take special steps to portray it "artistically" hehe... to avoid the get-down-and-boogie aspect of all that pumping and grinding. Sex is embarrassing. Sex is animalistic. Sex is not something we discuss in polite society.
Remember when you were rapped over the knuckles as a kid (or worse) for "impure thoughts".
To me, gays trying to explain themselves to a bunch of religious zealots is not the only thing that's pathetic, it's the attitude of society at large towards religion that's pathetic.
Sex is no big deal. And the sooner people get that through their thick skulls the better.
No wonder I've become more cynical as I get older. I'm convinced that the human race is nuts. And with each passing day, there are less exceptions. I even doubt myself sometimes.

No worries, JustinO. Just one of those mystifying internet thingies.
Anyway, I made a booboo in my comment. Early morning ya know. I meant to say: it's the attitude of society at large towards sex that's pathetic. - May 1, 2014 at 1:28 AM
