On March 4 Kirsten Powers, a columnist for The Daily Beast, wrote a terrific column that catalogued vile, potty-mouthed comments issued by left-wing shock jocks and commentators about women, and some outdo Rush Limbaugh's rant. The worst were the utterings on television made by "commedian" Bill Maher, who just gave $1 million to Obama's reelection campaign. He called Gov. Sara Palin a cunt and a dumb twat. None of those utterances became a cause celebre, probably because there is a horrible liberal bias in the media and Limbaugh's remarks are being trumpeted by Obama for political reasons. He has refused to return Maher's contribution. Interestingly enough, Maher has publically stated that since Limbaugh apologized they should stop complaining about his transgression. I, for one, agree with Powers that all of this nasty commentary needs to stop, and to be condemned whenever it arises, irrespective of the utterer or his cause.
I suspect that if all this nasty commentary stopped, and ceased to be condemned, pompous bigmouths like Limbaugh and Maher would be out of a job and their dumb audiences would have nowhere to go. Which would leave a big vacuum to be filled by ???
