"Repetition is the Mother of Learning " - a repeat

HAVE A GARBAGE-FREE DAY

It can be so obvious, but for some reason or other some of us allow others to dump their garbage on us and we wear it the rest of the day! In other words, we allow others to define who we are, how we are going to live, how we are going to feel about ourselves and others. . . which way too often ruins our day or life . . all because we allow others to tell us who we are.

Subject: LESSON OF THE DAY.......IGNORING OTHER'S GARBAGE!!

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck'.

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around
full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.

As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.
Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

so ... Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!
Have a garbage-free day!

It's always nice to be reminded of these things.
This really hit home with me today.
Thanks

Easier said than done, though. Certain insults aimed at me over the years still bug me.

Perhaps the reason for that is because there's an element of truth in them. Hehe.

Whenever i realize i am frustrated, depressed or jus having a bad day, i try my best NOT to dump on ppl. I will distance myself from everyone.

For me, it's more of a survival mode. I tend to emote more strongly than most ppl. It's kind of a hearingloss trait; one that can get me into hot water if i'm misunderstood for being angry when i'm only mildly upset.

As for other ppl's garbage, everybody has a bad day, so I let it slide.

You let it slide. . . .obviously, then, you do not wear the garbage people might dump on you. . . YOU do not carry THEIR garbage all day long.

I have enough of my own stuff: I do not near to wear or carry anybody else's.

But, as Gary says, "Easier said than done. . . " So when I find myself grumbling. . ."murmur. .murmur. . ." I stop and do a little inventory. . .when I discover I am over-stocked I know it is time to unload. . . makes for an easier journey. The old stuff gets heavier and heavier. .

A customer came into the store last night. I had not seen her in a while. I asked how's she's been.....
Her response was "OK, my brother's out of prison and staying at my Dad's but Dad does drugs so brother might have to stay at Mom's. Mom's medication is running out because sister took it all and I had to walk home from work because my sister crashed my car"

So she drove that garbage truck right on over to my store. Thanks, next time park that outside!

So, did you decide/ choose to WEAR her garbage. . . .? Did it "fit" or did you adjust to it ? ;-)

A couple of times I've asked the checkout chicks at the local supermarket what kinda reactions they get when they ask customers "how are you?".

The CCs usually roll their eyes and say, "You don't really wanna know."

I showed her where the trash can was and told her to leave that trash outside!
It's funny how she stood there waiting for me to respond. All I could do was raise an eyebrow and smile. I guess she's doing OK.
