G'day JustinO,

Here's discrimination in its most sickening form.

I am a proud Eagle Scout and I feel bad for this kid. Obviously, I disagree with the official anti-Gay policies of the BSA. Luckily, thankfully, there are many people in scouting who who follow their own heart and their own conscience.

Many Eagles are returning their badge in protest. One said that he does not want to be "on the wrong side of history". I earned my Eagle and it is a reminder of many happy years among peers who are not homophobic adult men. If I return mine, how can I lead by example? How can demonstrate the part of the scout law that says a scout is friendly, courteous and kind? How I relate to other people... how I treat them is more important than mailing my stuff back to national over a stupid policy. That is what history will remember.
