What's the word on His Holiness' handsome "personal secretary", Father Georg Ganswein, SJ? This guy was appointed to his post in 2003, and supposedly maintains a "filial" relationship with the old man. He is with him constantly. Even at 54, Father Georg, whom the Italians call "Bel Georgio", is quite a looker.
Since we're into the Georges, last spring the Pope's brother, retired Father Georg Ratziger, who used to be the chorus master at a church boy's school now rocked by sex scandals, confessed to the media that he used to beat the boys in his charge when they didn't perform up to his standards.
It seems that the Marquis de Sade had a better understanding of the church than its press agents would have us believe.

Bel Giorgio?
Donno. . .I am not part of the entourage. . . .gratefully.
Not my circle. . .only remotely. . . a la distance. LOL

The very name Ratzinger sounds rather harsh. . . . However church-men were not exclusively in the discipline roles. . .have you noted the British boarding schools and "caning". . .on bare buttocks? Ouch !
Shades of St Sebastian. . . .

Too bad about the rest of them being thwarted. Perhaps then his holiness could have seen the display as he rode by. It doesn't seem to me that he even noticed these guys.

At least we know that the whole of the Catholic church doesn't support his ideas.

Whooaaa. . ..Stewart. . . I know you do not really believe that an entire crowd of couples potest-kissing is going to change the pope's mind. . .any more than a bunch of fat hairy guys dressing like women tells me anything about gays. ;-)

Seeing that he can say "See! there they all are. . .bunch of perverts!"
The kiss-in wouldn't change him.

In the issue of human sexuality every aspect is inter-twined and affects all areas of sexual expression. Start "allowing" one thing here, another thing there, and before you know it the whole ball of year tangles together. . .

A whole lot of the strict 'evangelical' stance is not just theological but also heavily cultural.from over a collection of centuries. . .a whole ball of wax, mixed with yarn, and all messed together. . . [symbolic talk].

It's true, they won't change his mind. And we certainly don't want all that wax and yarn tangled together. We just want to be free to love whomever we happen to fall in love with.
One never knows what can come from such demonstrations. But if we keep hiding in our homes and never let people see us. Then one thing is for sure...... Nothing will ever change.
I am the change that I'd like to see.

Agreed, Stew.

And THEY are not going to change anything. . . their "heart" isn't into that. . .you know . .. ;-) It is "Hold that line. .. Hold that line". . .. .and they don't know we all moved along years ago, ;-)

Maybe someone can tell me why anyone would wanna be a member of a church that doesn't approve of them.

But "holding that line" makes them feel important.

OKIES. . .I will tell you again. .. Why am I still a Catholic? and not an Episcopalian or that other break-off branch the Methodists?

Read carefully now: I do not BELIEVE IN the Episcopal, Methodist churches.
Of course I "believe" these churches exist, are still around and serve the faith-needs of a lot of people. Sweet.
These churches do not serve my faith-needs. The Catholic Church does and so "I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, . . . " [from The Creed]

The current stance on homosexuality is only one very small part of the greater body of teaching. The current Pope and bishops and the Vatican bureaucracy are a part of the Church, but they are not the totality of THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.

WE ARE THE CHURCH. . .all those baptized into Christ Jesus, who recognize Jesus as "the Way, the Truth and the Life", publicly acknowledge that and try to live by His Teachings, WE are the Church.

I totally, rationally refuse to allow some small segment or opinion to derail me from who I am and who I profess to be. NO ONE can take that away from me. It is my birthright thru Baptism. . . so hands OFF. LOL.

I can still love you, even if you do not believe the same as I do. That's OK. . .Jesus' great law is:
"Love one another as I have loved you!" I can do that. . . there, isn't that Good News?! ;-))

love,
justin

Okay, so it's like you're an O'Shea and just because you don't agree with some members of your family (as it were) you can't simply go next door and become a Kelly or an O'Shaunnessy.

JustinO'Shea said...

Gary. . . .kinda like that. . .but def. MORE.. .;-)

BTW, Coop. We have the Anglican church (Church of England) here in Oz as opposed to the Episcatorials or whatever they are. The local one rings its bells every Sunday morning just to annoy everyone. I think it's a recording from an old scratchy 78rpm disk. We also have the Uniting Church which I think is former Methodist and Presbyterian.

Then of course we also have my church of which there is only one member.

Gary. . . .is that "The Church of Whats Happening Now". . . .with the Rev'd Ricky Relevant, head convenor ?

JustinO'Shea said...

Yes. . . .says a lot, doesn't it. . wraps it up neatly: it's all God's doing.
